freetds-common software package provides configuration files for FreeTDS SQL client libraries, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install freetds-common
freetds-common is installed in your system.
Make ensure the freetds-common package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep freetds-common *
You will get with freetds-common package name, version, architecture and description in a table
